The Faction of Eight is an extinct minor meta-civilization.

A minor meta-civilization that arose in this area following the departure of the Precursors. Eight individual civilizations of approximately equal power, banded together, and for unclear reasons, began eliminating other civilizations so that only eight would ever exist. This eventually took the form of ritualized trials, where the rise of any young civilization triggered a fight for its existence with one of the current members of The Eight (also fighting for their existence).
The Faction disappeared from power right around the rise of the Scryve Empire. How this occurred and why are still as yet unknown to us. Still, it is possible some traces of the Eight remain and with it opportunity to locate new technologies and maybe even allies.
